Widely used infrastructure as code tool that defines cloud resources in HCL files and applies changes through plan and apply.
Terraform describes infrastructure in configuration files written in HCL. You declare the resources you want, such as networks, databases, clusters and DNS records, and Terraform works out a plan of changes and applies it through providers for AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes and many other services.
HashiCorp sells HCP Terraform, a hosted service for running plans, storing state and applying policy, and it has added AI-assisted features around writing and reviewing configuration. Terraform itself moved to the Business Source License in 2023, which is why the open-source fork OpenTofu exists. Check the license terms against how your company uses it, and keep state files and provider credentials locked down, since they describe your whole estate. Review the provider versions you pin, since provider upgrades can change behavior.
Not enough info yet on free plan or free tier, has an API. Check the tool's own site.
